Dr. McCann has received extensive training in the administration of varying forms of anesthesia. Procedures can be completed under local anesthesia (freezing), inhalational sedation (laughing gas or nitrous oxide) or under intravenous sedation or anesthesia. Intravenous sedation involves the administration of medications that will reduce your level of consciousness, while intravenous anesthesia will produce a loss of consciousness. The anesthetic agents used in this office, as well as monitoring techniques are identical to those that are used in hospitals. Dr. McCann will discuss which method or methods are best suited to your care at your consultation visit.
